(Photos by Joe Grippo) – We’ve been concentrating on earlier hot rods from the 2014 Rodders Journal Revival show so today we’re moving the needle towards “newer” stuff in the form of cars and trucks from the so called “fat fender” era. We love these cars and they have a style and classiness that others just do not have. The rounded shapes of the fenders, roofs, hoods, and virtually every other surface mean that modifying them takes incredible skill and acumen. The cars with fenders that are modified or roofs that are chopped have insane amounts of hours into them and we truly appreciate that.
We have multiple brands in this gallery and have based these photos more around the shape than the make. We think you will dig this collection of photos as it highlights cars like the one below with lots of patina and others that are built to within an inch of their lives. Gassers, tail draggers, and mildly modified machines with stock body lines all populate this space. Today may be “running board” day at BangShift. From that full fendered gasser hot rod we showed you earlier to all of the cars here…running boards abound!
