2015 Hot Rod Hullabaloo Coverage: Our Opening Salvo Of Photo Fun

2015 Hot Rod Hullabaloo Coverage: Our Opening Salvo Of Photo Fun

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – The Hot Rod Hullaballoo is an event that is growing in popularity and ability get the Shelby’s Way message out.  When I was searching for the right words to describe it I contacted Mark Cain and using his words to explain it best.

‘The whole idea for Shelby’s Way and the Hullabaloo is to spread the importance of community and fellowship with one another and what a better way to do that than in the Hot Rod lifestyle.  Racing and the automotive aftermarket were Shelby’s passion.  He loved fast cars as well as good looking cars.

‘The need for community is even more important now in our society…we have so many things grabbing us away that we lose sight of what’s really important –  Family, Friends, and our neighbors whether in the local community of our work community.

‘The Hullabaloo is a free event for participants, spectators and vendors.  We had 454 cars this year and it doesn’t matter if we have 2000 it’s still free.  The most important thing is bringing these folks together so we can share Shelby’s Way message and the good it’s doing in our community, state, and outside KY.’

The event takes place on Contract St. in Lexington, KY and it’s a pretty nice setting.  They have the hoodlum downhill drags (gravity cars), vendors, trophies, live bands, and more.  This year there was even a portable dyno letting folks see what their car can put out.  The event is geared towards the more traditional rods, but everything is welcome.  We had an awesome time and hope our pictures bring you just a little glimpse into what its all about.

My galleries for this event are not categorized.  Its just a mish-mash of everything.  Here are some highlights in this collection:

Flattie-powered Fiat

Super-cool traditional dark red ’34 Ford coupe

’39 Chevy sporting W-motor power and looks to kill

An authentic Mid-50s Chevy wrecker.  No faux patina here

Enjoy.
