While our own Chad Reynolds is cranking out the photos and video, we have a secret weapon in our coverage arsenal: the guys and girls at Spectre Performance. They’re armed and dangerous with cameras as well and sent us an awesome dispatch of more than 100 killer photos to add to our bulging coverage of Bonneville Speed Week 2010.
The Spectre Team had a busy day on the salt making their final runs with the “baby” engine while resetting their own A/BGS record with a two way average of 356 mph. They’ve officially taken that record and blown it sky freaking high. It was lodged in the high 200 mph zone when they showed up and now it is smack dab in the middle of 300-ville. Remember, that’s with the weak motor.
As we write this, the team is swapping in their 529ci mill that will put them into the AA/BGS category and hopefully will also put them into 400mph territory. This engine makes far more power than the previous mill which was only running on seven cylinders by the time they finished with it. The Spectre crew already owns the AA/BGS record, so they are looking to bump their own mark. The real goal here is to produce a 400mph lap and ultimately a 400mph two way average.
Stay tuned kids, stuff is about to get VERY interesting.
