While it is true that big speed is the main draw at Bonneville, gearheads the world over will agree that the sound of a hot rod at full tilt for miles on end is intoxicating. This video gives a great taste of the sounds to be heard at the salt and since we’re in need of some good old fashioned Bonneville mojo today we decided to share it with you. This is an amazingly simple video but to gearheads, it is just about perfect. The one thing we really like about it is that you get a sense of what it is like to stand on the starting line at Bonneville as a car is pushed off. You can be “right there” at the line which is cool and you’ll notice it is also very quiet as everyone pays attention to the car heading down the course. There are few things better in the known universe.
This car gets pushed off and then roars to life right around 35 seconds into the video. Just crank the speakers and listen to this racer haul ass into the Utah afternoon. It’s glorious.
