(Photos by Johnny Gaudette) – One of the coolest nostalgia drag racing and hot rod events in New England doesn’t happen at a drag strip at all. Instead it happens at an airport in central Massachusetts. The Orange Drag Strip Reunion is an event that celebrates the long lost strip that operated in Orange, Massachusetts (also at an airport) many years ago. The event combines a huge car show with 330′ drag races on a runway at the Fitchburg Airport in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. My pop was there and raced his Nova. Also in attendance was BangShifter Johnny Gaudette. Johnny blasted a bunch of great photos of both the car show and the action on the strip.
There are lots of these type events popping up around the country. From the great Eagle Field races in California to the Orange Reunion in Massachusetts, no frills drag racing combined with a fun car show is proving to be a formula that many people want to get involved with. This event was sold out as far as entries go long before it actually happened and spectators showed up in absolute droves. They’ll be doing it all again on September 7th. Read about the event here.

The “Fast Eddie” Cougar…is that a tribute? Last I heard the original one was still being restored. Any idea?
I didnt get the chance to look at it up close but i didnt here anything about it being the real one. And yeah i loved that merc too
