Power Tour Gallery: Grand Prairie, Texas – The Final Stop

(Photos by Charles Wickam) – The final day of the 2012 Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour was held in Grand Prairie, Texas at a massive multi-use facility that housed a AAA-baseball stadium, huge concert venue, and a horse racing track. All of those big places had big parking lots and Power Tour participants from the one day wonders to the Long Haulers filled the place to the gills with all sorts of hot rod hardware. From vicious rat rods to Amphicars painted up like sharks, there was something for everyone.

You’ll see some seriously neat stuff in this gallery like a crew cab 1972 Chevy that has been retro-fitted with a “quadra-steer” rear axle from a modern truck. It looks boss with all four wheels crabbed in different directions. Charles got to roam the show areas in the morning before the Optima Face Off kicked off and his photographic talents were directed towards that (you’ll see that action a little later today!).

This was the first time that I got to see and experience a Power Tour stop as well and it was hella cool. The quality of the cars was super high and there were thousands upon thousands of people all hanging out, having a great time, and talking cars with one another. In my opinion, that rules the school.
