Wheelstand Sequence: A Gnarly Datsun 240Z Literally Stands It On The Bumper At Brainerd!

Wheelstand Sequence: A Gnarly Datsun 240Z Literally Stands It On The Bumper At Brainerd!

(Words and Photos by Tommy Lee Byrd) – It was a great day at Brainerd Optimist Drag Strip with lost of cool cars. By far, the star of the show was Ron Lane in his nitrous-fed 240z, which did one of the most violent, all-four-wheels-off-the-ground wheelstands we’ve ever seen! The car took a fairly hard hit, but Ron stabbed the throttle and sprayed it some more, carrying the wheels another 200 feet down track. It was spectacular, and the car did not suffer any damage. In fact, Ron ended up winning the race!

bad ass sequence, all the tracks here run north south so I wont be able to get any lighting like that

If he did that at the Byron wheelstand event everyone else would just load up and go home.

Greg, earlier in the day, he waited until about 20 feet out to hit the nitrous, then feathered it to keep it from going all the way to the bumper. The car carried the wheels with a nice, moderate wheelie for about 250 feet. With enough practice, he could take the money at Byron. On the big wheelie pass, it would’ve gone even higher if he didn’t have a parachute.
