Bangshift.com reader Jim Gonia knows us too well. He shot us a message and it contained about twenty photos of 1950’s tractor trailer trucks laden with awesome, brand new cars. We’re talking about an era when a load of Fords was dragged down the road by a burly Ford truck, driven by a dude who had forearms that allowed him to shred phone books. Your ‘Stude arrived on the back of a big Studebaker truck.
We live in a different world now, a much improved one for truckers, but one that lacks a certain something from the old days. The photos in this gallery all seem to come from the John Jurkowski collection. We don’t know John, but we’re guessing he’s got a boat load of cool photos to go along with these.
Enjoy!
