Losing Jessi Combs was a heartbreaker to the entire automotive community. She brought life and light everywhere she went. She was an inspiration to many, including young women and girls who looked up to her as an icon, proof that you didn’t have to just be pretty enough to make it, proof that you could be skilled and talented and personable and that was all right. She did whatever she wanted to do, and unfortunately it was during a land-speed record attempt in the Alvord Desert in Oregon that we lost her. There are still shockwaves radiating out from the initial incident, and we suspect that there will be more before the year is through.
The Petersen Museum will be hosting a special exhibit on Jessi’s life and contributions between September 22-25th, 2019 called “Jessi Combs: Life At Full Speed” that will be taking donations that will go towards The Jessi Combs Foundation. The Foundation’s goal is to educate, inspire and empower the next generation of girls and women, by helping assist in education via scholarships and donations for those who want to emulate Jessi’s drive to move beyond stereotypes and to stand on their own feet, with their own skills that they can learn, and to give a voice to those who are making strides in those fields.
That’s great there doing that but only 3 days???
