It’s kind of nice when you have a collection of Chevrolet trucks and SUVs that are sitting with their LS engines and transmissions just waiting to become donors for other projects, and that is exactly what Brent has got going on at Halfass Kustoms. So when his buddy asked for help in installing a 5.3 and a 5 speed, Brent was ready and waiting. The second video is below and the 5.3 and the 5 speed get sent to their home and the fitting begins to see where the trans crossmember has to get moved, where the engine swap mounts need to go, and how the headers are going to fit. It’s a good one, so watch and see how Brent does this on the cheap.

In the first video of Brent handling the swap, he had to find the right donor from behind the barn. After choosing one and making sure it doesn’t have issues, the engine is pulled and prepped, a cam swap is done thanks to some parts from BTR, and then it’s time to get planning for the engine install itself.
