Project Mongrel Update: The Mazda-Meets-Ford Project Is Moving Along At A Quick Pace!

Chad has been obsessed over this 1959 Ford 100E that is known as “The Mongrel”. I have to be honest, I haven’t been paying that much attention to the build. If you are unfamiliar with the 100E, it’s a 1953-59 model that was essentially an upmarket Ford Anglia, so it’s small, light, and because it’s from the late 1950s, isn’t meant to do anything but drive around as a standard vehicle. In other words, unless it was perfect and 100-point pretty, there was no point in saving the stock suspension stuff. A Mazda Miata, on the other hand, is a great-handling little roadster that doesn’t need much to make it an absolute rock star, and even with stock power it’s plenty peppy. So to see Matt Urch mating the good parts of the Miata with the classic shell of the 100E warms my heart. There’s a lot of work that has to take place in order for the marriage to be a happy one, though…lots of fabrication, welding, sparks and the like. Now I get why this little beast is going to be so cool! If you haven’t checked out The Mongrel, you need to catch up quickly!

I watch Urch’s videos on a regular basis – I like his ‘no-nonsense’ approach! – Its like the best of of RoadKill & Project Binky without out all the fluff & very lame joking around – This man is serious & doesn’t need comedic relief
