BangShifter Sean Fling Wins The Ridetech Race Entry Giveaway! Sandhills Here He Comes!

BangShifter Sean Fling Wins The Ridetech Race Entry Giveaway! Sandhills Here He Comes!

We are proud to announce that BangShifter Sean Fling, and his wife Tara, won the Ridetech Race Entry Giveaway for the Sandhills Open Road Challenge and will be kickin’ it BangShift style in their 1963 Ford Fairlane WAGON!!! And as if that isn’t enough, they will be pulling their pop-up camper trailer to and from the even with the Wagon! They rule all and we have photos below. Nobody else will be driving their junk and staying in a camper behind it we assure you. Plus, we’ll be getting all the dirt from the event through Sean and Tara’s eyes as they are going to be blogging and Facebooking like mad. BangShift, along with Ridetech, will be posting all of it so that you can following along on their adventure. If you aren’t familiar with Sean and Tara’s wagon, then let us fill you in real quick.

The 1963 Ford Fairlane wagon has a Procharged 4.6, EMS Pro ECU, runs on E85, and makes 600hp. It’s got a Tremec 3650 5-speed, an 8.8 with 3.73s, and leaf springs out back with a custom swaybar. Up front is a completely custom setup that uses late model Mustang parts including coil-over struts, control arms, rack and pinion, and swaybar. The 4wheel disc brakes are setup with a hydroboost, and the entire car was built by Sean and his brother in 2006 and 2007. It’s been on multiple Hot Rod Magazine Drag Weeks, and has also done plenty of autocross action as well. On the dragstrip it has been 11.28 at 122mph with the steel wheels on it, but will be running the 17 inch Americans, as seen in the camper photo below, for Sandhills.

Congratulations again to Sean and Tara. They are going to have a riot!

This thing is going to look real good with a giant Ridetech Decal on the side!

If you didn’t get to check out the Race Entry Giveaway, you can read all about it below.

Ridetech Race Entry Giveaway Contest! Earn a Spot in the Sandhills Open Road Challenge!

If you missed the announcement that Ridetech was giving away a race entry for the upcoming Sandhills Open Road Challenge, you can check out the back story below. When Bret sent me a text the other day saying he was looking for someone to take Ridetech’s Sandhills Open Road Challenge entry for August 9-11th, I sent him one back saying ” We could do a contest on the site!”, and here we are a few days later, doing just that. SO, if you want a free entry into the Sandhills Open Road Race, where you can drive at excessive speeds on public roads in your own car, and are willing to make good use of this entry, has Ridetech got a deal for you! Plus this event is an Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational Qualifier and that mean’s your attendance could result in an invite to Vegas baby!!!

Keep in mind, this is a serious racing event. It is dangerous, fast, and expensive. Getting to the race, making sure your junk is ready to race, finding a place to sleep, eating, and gas are all on you. Ridetech will give you the entry though which is super coveted and worth $1000. This race sells out on entries every year within a matter of hours once they open registration. It’s that big of a deal.

Check out all the info from Ridetech below, and enter now by sending Bret an email at [email protected] and put SANDHILLS RACE ENTRY CONTEST in the subject.

1.     OK guys…RideTech has an open spot for the Sand Hills Open Road Challenge on August 9-11, 2012!  http://www.sorcrace.com/
We were fortunate enough to be included with the Optima Batteries group in 2011 and 2012, but we simply cannot make it this year.

The SORC is not for the rookie, the timid, or the unprepared. It is 55 miles of excessive speed along a wandering public [but closed for the race] county road that include obstacles such as curves, hills, mailboxes, trees, ditches, cows, and rattlesnakes.

It IS, however, quite possibly the most fun you would have this year in your car with your clothes on! The population of Arnold, Nebraska welcomes this race with open arms and keeps you fed, watered and entertained like you’ve never experienced before. It’s Mayberry with an attitude! Be aware that there are no motels within about an hour of Arnold, so plan on taking a camper for the most convenience. There are plenty of places to park.

The spot available is with the Optima Batteries group, which will run in a special 91mph class. [more rules on the SORC website]. If you want to be considered for this spot, email me directly with a photo of your car and some data on it…and convince me that you are ready, willing, and ABLE to compete competently.

You do NOT have to run RideTech equipment to be considered for this spot, but it helps. You WILL have to provide your own room, board, fuel, and other expenses related to the trip…this opportunity include the entry fee ONLY [which normally costs $1,000]. You WILL be required to wear a large RideTech decal on your car, and we’ll load you up with lots of RideTech swag to wear and distribute at the race.

ALSO…this is an OUSCI Qualifier…the guys from Optima will be there to select someone from that race to attend the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational in Vegas this fall!

If you are interested and able, contact me directly…[email protected].
Time is short…Who wants in?

While I may have the GTA back on the road by then, I don’t think I can afford this gift. Please some one step up and do us proud.

Sean Fling wins it!!! Any bets as to how well the wagon will finish? 91mph is the target average, and Sean and Tara are pretty sharp. Let’s hope for a BangShifter win!

      UNBELIEVABLE!!! We are SOO excited!
Tara & I have been to this event a few times in the past just to watch, and believe me, the guys that compete in the SORC know what they are doing. But anyone that has met Tara & I know that we are not going up there to lose. Wish us luck!
