One of the coolest things about the automotive aftermarket (in our opinion) is that so many of the major companies in the industry started due to to the vision, tenacity, and persistence of a single person. Aeromotive is one of those companies and the guy that “did the math” to get the whole operation moving is company founder Steve Matusek. Recently, Matusek was interviewed by the MotoBlog and he told the story of how the company came to be and some of the basic reasons for its success. For obvious reasons, we love stories like this. Dogged determination and a sometimes blind refusal to acknowledge the odds stacked against a new venture are things that we hold near and dear here at BangShift and obviously Steve felt the same way when he stepped away from a far more insulated career path to see his vision for Aeromotive come to fruition.
Most of the time, the public sees Steve Matusek as the head of Aeromotive or as an NHRA pro mod racer. This interview goes to another level than that and Steve opens up about what he key elements of the company’s early success and survival were. Like the Joe Amato interview we showcased here a couple of months ago, this is a fantastic look into the mindset of a successful entrepreneur and business owner. We’re just glad Steve had the bug for hot rods, race cars, and horsepower rather than industrial paper folding machines or something because it sure seems that whatever the path he took, success was imminent.
If you are in the mood to check out a great American success story, go ahead and hit the link below to read Steve Matusek’s. If you are sitting out there and you know in your heart that you have come up with the better mouse trap, no matter your industry let this story serve as some inspiration to move from the thought phase to the action phase. As history and Steve’s story show, fortune favors the bold.
