There’s nothing like the famed “Chili Bowl”. For nearly 30 years, racers from all over the county have been gathering in Oklahoma in the dead of winter to race for days on end, indoors, in a quest to earn a spot in the Saturday night finale of the greatest show on dirt. The event began in 1987 and was originally sponsored by the Chili Bowl Food Company, hence the name. It is the midget race that everyone wants to win and by everyone, we mean everyone. You’ll find NHRA, NASCAR, and World of Outlaws racers in the field of hopefuls trying to race their way to glory over the grueling five day length of the event. What’s super cool about the race in 2014 is that you’ll be able to watch it live on MAVTV, if you have it through your cable or satellite provider. Dave Despain will be leading the broadcast and it promises to be a fantastic show to see the midgets hurtling, sometimes three wide around the indoor clay track that measures out to roughly a quarter mile in length.
