Edd China has been building all kinds of interesting “vehicles” for years. And while most are gasoline powered, he has become known for building impressive electric vehicles as well. In fact, several of his electric vehicles hold some kind of speed record. Most recently he has been working towards completing his electric ice cream van, but he’s got all kinds of things in the works. One of the interesting things about electric vehicles is the batteries. While everyone knows they need them, a lot of people would be surprised to find out just what the cells look like in those battery packs. Many of them have used battery “cells” that are the size of a AA battery but are packed into grids with hundreds and hundreds of them. Of course battery development is a huge thing, so they are constantly working to improve the performance and are making different sizes to make manufacturing and performance better.
In this video, Edd goes over building a battery pack which is of interest to me because I’d like to build one for my electric golf cart project. I think this thing can be ultra cool! Check out the video below, and let us know if you would ever build your own.
