This ’56 Chevy Is Getting An LS Swap, But Will It Run And Drive On The Stock Stuff After Sitting For 20 Years?

The craze that is going around of trying to start up old junk to see if it will run and drive is cool and yet drives me nuts at the same time. Unless an engine is seized up or has some catastrophic damage, it should run. If it ran when parked and will turn over it shouldn’t be a big deal. Of course without knowing what happened to cause something old to sit around, it is going to take a bit of detective work to see what is needed to start it up and drive it. When the Halfass Kustoms crew got a new project in the other day, a 1956 Chevrolet Sedan, with the stock 6-cylinder and three on the tree that was in for an LS swap and upgrades so it can be a family cruiser it only made sense to see if any of what was in it currently was any good. After all, while the world is being LS Swapped that doesn’t mean a 6 cylinder like this can’t find a home in something else. If it runs and drives, at least you know that the engine is worth keeping.

In this video you’ll see the process for getting it to run and ultimately drive across the property and into the shop for an assessment on what else is needed before the swap. But will it work? Will it actually drive in the shop?
