TIG Welding, like anything that requires skill, is all about practice. I’m not just talking about doing it over and over again, although that is incredibly important to getting good at it, I’m talking about good practices. What am I talking about? I’m talking about doing things the right way and doing them consistently. These are what would be called best practices in the business world, and are important to becoming a good TIG welder.
Here’s the thing. You aren’t going to be great at TIG welding the first time you try it. But, you can get good over time if you avoid the pitfalls. Using best practices and making sure that your process is correct every time will insure your success because then the only thing you need to worry about is your technique. If you don’t clean your material properly, don’t set the machine properly, don’t have the right form, then you’ll never realize your potential. But if you do the right stuff, then practice really can make perfect and you could be a bad ass like this dude!
You know how you go to a car show or a race and see TIG welds on a chassis or fuel tank or something? Doesn’t that make you want to do that? You can. Watch.
