Video: Dare to be Different, Turbo-Yoda Powered BMW Makes Big Power and Burns Tires

When BangShift.com member Scott Clark (dieselgeek on the forums) tipped us off to this great piece of video by Kyle (the lead photo is Kyle’s shot as well) at 1320video.com of a turbocharged, Toyota 2JZ-powered BMW on the dyno and making some banzai runs, we were conflicted. Then we got over ourselves because this sucker makes more than 800 hp at the flywheel and could bitch slap every other BMW owner clear off any highway or drag strip in America.

Ever since Hot Rod ran the feature several months ago of a Camaro packing 2JZ heat, the engine has been a hot button topic for hot rodders from sea to sea. While putting one in a Camaro may not be our speed, shoehorning one in a 1997 BMW and backing it with a Turbo 400, 4,500-stall converter, and Ford 9-inch rear screams BangShift.

The car was built by Brian Stratman of Omaha, Nebraska and Scott did the tuning work. He’s the dude riding shotgun on the dyno pulls with a laptop.

Click below to see the video, and before you chuck rocks at us, watch it all the way to the end. This car flat hauls ass.
