Dyno Video: A Screaming 10,000-RPM Ripsaw Motor From Hell – Chevy SB2 Goodness!

While the 9,000 rev dyno pull we showed you the other day was really neat, this 10,000 rpm scream to the horsepower heavens is even cooler. The engine on the pump is a 355ci SB2 style Chevy and it makes a reported 950hp while bending the tach needle over like a rotary engine. The sound alone will make the hair on the back of your next stand up!

If we had to guess, this engine was destined for a Top Sportsman/Top Dragster or Competition Eliminator class car. We’re leaning toward the Comp side of things where the displacement of the engine would be limited by class rules. 950hp would be less stressful to come by when using a big block engine, but it wouldn’t sound near as good, nor would it make noise raunchy enough to raise the dead like this bad boy does!

Am I the only one that was squinting waiting for the rods to window the block? Very cool indeed……
