Lessons On Preparing Your Rear End And Gratuitous Van Burnouts, Courtesy Of Hot Rod Garage!

Lessons On Preparing Your Rear End And Gratuitous Van Burnouts, Courtesy Of Hot Rod Garage!

As you may have known, the Roadkill guys jammed a healthy LS7 into a 1973 Chevrolet van with help and parts from MSD and Holley for the goal of taking it on Power Tour this year. It’s a unique build, for sure, but it’s well thought out and in this episode of Hot Rod Garage, Freiburger teaches you the finer points of covering your ass when it comes to spec-ing out a rear end for your build. This is a good episode chock-filled with knowledge and information, from how to properly measure for the axle itself to measuring out driveshaft angles. Lots of knowledge here, but let’s face facts: you want to see how a side-piped surf van with a stomper of a motor handles the dragstrip, and more likely, how well it cooks off the rear tires. Well, you’ll have to watch the episode to get the actual E.T. (Hint: expect excuses…) but regarding the rear tires, the MSD Atomic van roasts them very, very well.

I’m not a fan of the red.
It’s clean and well done, but the ratty patina and surface rust was just attractive prior to paint.
