After looking at the Slant Six-powered Charger, I had to go find a video of one running. Not one that was dead stock, nothing more than a sewing-machine hum with the sound of rattly valve train. Oh, no. No, no, no. I wanted something a lot more stout than what the average buzzin’ half-dozen could provide. I wanted cam lope. I wanted anger. I wanted some bass to the exhaust note. I wanted proof that an inline-six didn’t need to be wrapped up in a Jaguar XK-E or an Australian car to be something absolutely wicked and intimidating. A Comp CR6 264s cam, 600 CFM Holley carb, Flowmasters, and plenty more inside of the 225ci mill make the noise you hear. A turbocharger will make more power, but if you’re going to stay naturally aspirated, this is how a Slant should sound.
Yet another fine car who’s looks are destroyed by a totally unnecessary hood scoop….
BMT…CHMG needs mention of something British. Maybe a classic Ginetta or a Vauxhall VXR8…Brits did have an emotional day last Tuesday.
My thoughts, exactly, CHMG. BTW, I have a .100 over 12.5:1 balanced, blueprinted, and flowed /6 done by St. Moritz’s Rick Ballentine, that I’ve never put in a car. It’s for sale….
i think that this is a very fine cruiser. I am not a big fan of hood scoops, however, at least it is NOT a Goofy Mechanics cowl induction one. those things are useless. they face the wrong way.
Hood scoop looks good. I would of filled in the rear marker lights & moved the strip back six inches. It’s about as much as you can do with a ’74 bumper sandwich car. I like it.
