We brought you photographs from the burnout contest from LS Fest East 2018, but let’s face facts: no photograph is ever going to compare to seeing the madness in action while hearing the screaming engines and the tires that are protesting in vain for mercy. The only way you could do better would be to be trackside, smelling hot exhaust and fried tires, hearing the cords bounce off of the bumper cap and placing bets with whoever is game next to you on how long it’ll take before you hear the sound of piston meeting valve or some other kind of mechanical mayhem.

Eight contestants entered the event: a late-model Pontiac GTO, a dropped and nasty GMC Sierra, a 6.0L Chevrolet Silverado, a ratty 1956 Chevrolet wagon, an older GMC Sierra that might have been a loaner truck at Home Depot at one point, a V8 S-10, the Three Pedals’ “Shaken and Stirred” Pontiac Safari…last year’s champion…and a rockbouncer…a real-deal rockbouncer burning the hell out of 37″ HMMWV rolling stock. Everyone put in an effort to put on a show, but which one would you have voted for if you’d been there?
