There are certain things that we don’t really think about that often but when we see a video illustrating them we cannot help but watch. One of those topics was ho railroad mechanics change out the wheels on a railcar when they need to be serviced or repaired. We’re talking mighty heavy stuff that would not seem really conducive to field repairs but as you will see below, they are more than conducive, these guys make it look downright easy! The other thing we love about stuff like this video is seeing tools and processes we never knew existed at work. Hell, the jack alone is worth the price of admission here.
The other neat thing is that this video was made on a worker’s head mounted helmet camera. So not only do we see the job, we see it done by one of the guys on the scene. We also get the kind of workplace banter one may expect from the railroad yards and that’s all good as well.
It seems that this crew has been at this work for a while because they act like they have done this a million times. Not reckless, mind you, just experienced and not really plussed by the work that they are performing. Good old fashion muscle and cool machines getting it done.
