I’ve seen just how well an armored vehicle can hold up to small-arms fire. Generally, armored SUVs and sedans can take some serious lead before the armor or the unbelievably thick glass becomes compromised…think .50 caliber rounds or sustained near-constant streams of machine gun fire. If you are an important person – heads of state, corporate raiders, drug kingpins, dictators, or Hollywood starlets who don’t want to touch those icky people clamoring for an autograph – an up-armored vehicle becomes a nice, discreet choice, especially compared to the alternative, like a military personnel carrier.
But doesn’t it make sense that the company stand behind their product? Of course it does…that’s why Texas Armored Car put one of their employees behind the wheel of this armored Mercedes GL, and another in front of the SUV, with an assault rifle and a fully loaded magazine. Spoiler alert: the gentleman gets out of the car without any issue whatsoever. At least, that is evident. A black suit should be able to hide a lot of…um…”fear”.
Only in Texas!
Actually this is part of the new Texas State driving test where learners have to be able to demonstrate that they can not only drive whilst under fire from their boozed-up buddies but they can operate the car whilst keeping their underwear in pristine condition.
I LOVE Texas – the people there are truly the Geordies of the USA so this is not meant to disrespect them by the way.
Shut your face CHMG!!!
With the frequency of violent crimes these days, I’m surprised more of us aren’t driving cars like these.
Violent crime is at a 50 year low in the US, unless you live in Chicago or NewOrleans.
Video must be banned in Canada. Can’t get it to play.
No disrespect was perceived, Geordie! Born in northeast Ohio, I’ve lived in Texas for forty years and shoulda been born here. They just got a different way of doin’ it down here, from cookin’ to cars.’Murika!
