Throw The Horns: Finnegan Breaks Out The “Death Metal” Charger!

Well, well, well…look who pried himself away from gigantic square-body GM box trucks. It seems that Mike has squirreled away more than a couple of ex-Roadkill cars, including this gem. If you are unfamiliar with this car, let us make the introduction: it’s the Death Metal Charger, a 1968 that was supposed to go circle track racing but didn’t do much of anything except sit for a time before the car was drug out of storage for a Roadkill episode. It’s a beast and a half…just look at lug-nut count to understand what we’re talking about. Or you can look at the setup of the rollcage and make your own call. Either way, this big-block four-speed freak is the right kind of rowdy, a race car put back onto the street.

We’ve been really digging this “ex-racer” look over the last few years. Finding a used-up race car isn’t as difficult as you might think (Editor’s note: I actually passed up three ex-stocker Dodge Aspens this year!) and there is no way you can compete with the looks…they all look war-torn and badass. It’s up to the builder to back up the looks, but that’s all part of the fun. So is fixing things that break, like the dowel pin that’s in the timing chain…something that strikes a little to close to home this week.

Do us a favor and put the pressure on Mike to make this Charger one mean mother. This old Mopar deserves to be a badass.
