Thanks to a tip from BangShift reader Brad Jerew, we have the story and footage behind one of the wildest traffic accidents we’ve ever seen. The Vine video below shows a Nissan truck, pulling a utility trailer launching of an embankment in the middle of the highway between two bridges. Amazingly the guy in the truck lived with some broken bones and other injures. When you see the video below, you are totally not going to believe that because it looks like he is basically heading into the freaking Grand Canyon.
According to a news story that’s linked under the video, the driver had some sort of medical condition that rendered him unconscious and that led to the truck drifting into the median at highway speeds and launching like some sort of failed Robbie Knievel stunt. The wreck happened in Michigan. The video below was taken by a girl in a car that saw the truck veer off the road and then launch. It is unbelievable that the driver lived.
BEWARE — THERE IS SOME SWEARING AT THE END OF THE VIDEO. THIS IS A VINE SO THE WHOLE THING IS ABOUT SIX SECONDS LONG BUT IT WILL REPEAT ENDLESSLY SO BEWARE!
NEWS LINK – 58 YEAR OLD MAN CRASHES OFF HIGHWAY
I give it an 8.5, he almost made it!
He lived mostly because he was unconsious. Had me been awake, and braced, his injuries would have been far worse.
passed out drunk? is that a medical condition? lol.
hey were you there redneck ?that’s how you know he was drunk or just mean and like to say the worst about someone ?
well if he has a medical condition that renders him unconscious, why is he driving? he could kill anybody at any time.
Good job he was driving a Nissan “Hardbody” :):)
I witnessed something very similar driving up US 50 to Tahoe. A guy in a lifted Samarai (yeah, I know) was having a diabetic seizure while driving with the cruise control on. His car bounced between guard rails from one side of the freeway to the other. He was lucky because there are sections that didn’t have a guardrail. His truck finally settled in the median and was heading straight for the concrete supports of an over pass. I thought for sure I was going to witness a nasty crash, but he was able to get the car stopped just in time before smashing into the concrete pillars.
That happened right around the corner from where I work!
he will not be getting his deposit back…
That 5.6 is huge
I’m sure it’s a Chiat/ Day Nissan Titan truck ad . If they had a better product they could sell something other than a car (truck) wreck.
Who has a video camera ready to catch things like that..
The 17 y/o girl who was probably texting when she saw this.
needs to tie his mower down better….
Somebody watched too many Frontier commercials…
I saw this last week on the local news. This happened on I-96 in Michigan, near where I-96 and US127 intersect. The man is from Kentwood, MI (near Grand Rapids, I also live in Kentwood). He did survive, but had quite a few injuries. The local authorities did determine that it was a medical condition of some sort that caused him to pass out, and attempt a ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ style jump.
I’m thankful that he survived, and hopefully this brings to attention the seriousness of some medical conditions.
