Video: Is This The Most Powerful Ford Crown Vic In The World? The Rocket Couch Lives Again With Tons More Power!

Video: Is This The Most Powerful Ford Crown Vic In The World? The Rocket Couch Lives Again With Tons More Power!

You may remember our buddy Chris Adams’ 1992 Crown Vic from the pages of Car Craft a couple years ago where it starred in a story called The Rocket Couch. With a supercharged two-valve Ford modular engine, the car was a great sleeper and ran fast enough to hold its own. Chris has a business based around Panther platform high performance stuff, modular engine performance, and general late model Ford bad-assery. He recently dropped us a line to inform the news department that the car is back to life and hairier than ever. This monster puts down more than 620hp to the wheels in this video and Chris tells us with more tuning time and the addition of a methanol injection kit he may see a full 700hp at the tires. We’re pretty sure that would make this the most bad ass Crown Vic in the world, but tell us if we are wrong.

Like our Buford T Justice B-Body Chevy, the Ford Panthers make for a great starting point if you’re willing to build a more door hot rod. Full frame, robust everything, lots of parts available, wrecking yards full of donor candidates, cheap buy in, it is all there for budget ‘rodding! Now running a Ford Racing BOSS block and displacing 327ci, the engine has TFS 2-valve heads, and a Novi 2000 blower feeding the engine. Chris tunes these cars for a living so he handled that end of things for himself, he can do that for you too. Visit his site for more photos of the car and information by CLICKING HERE.

As cool as this dyno video is, we’re demanding that Chris send us more footage when the car is on the streets and laying waste to tires. With 622hp on tap at the tires and potentially more to come, burning tires on this thing isn’t just going to be easy, it is going to be a mandatory part of the driving experience.

Hear that Chris? We want burnout and rolling footage! Go waste some ‘Vettes on da couch!

I wonder how this crown vic would compare to Sean and Tara’s old daily drive twin turbo’d car?

FYI…….the car in that video was crushed. It was built and owned by Ford. They removed and donated the engine to a school and crushed the car.

…….and the couch would destroy that car in the quarter mile. I filmed the video of it on the dyno…….I felt it make the ground shake when it tried to jump off the dyno.

Yeah, I know. Dev was pretty bummed when they crushed it. I worked in the same building where they were working on it before they left for One Lap. I loved that it had huge (18×12??) BBS wheels and big brakes, and that worked DOHC Cobra engine was wicked. I think it was around 650 RWHP. Dev worked on F1 engines at Cosworth for a while.
