We’re not sure that we’ll ever be able to top this one. This is footage, both in car and out, is of Ari Vatanen driving a seriously hot rodded Peugeot 405 in the 1990 Pikes Peak Hill Climb competition.
The would be a fantastic video to show anyone who whips out the old, “racecar drivers aren’t athletes” argument out on you. Calmly listen to their points, direct them to watch this video, and then tell them to kiss your ass.
This is artwork and there is no other way to really describe it. There are a couple near misses on the edges of the course, some nutty slides, and some very wild speeds being achieved. All the while Vatanen is sawing on the wheel and occasionally driving with one hand to block the glare of a setting sun.
