We have to thank BS tipster Toni Scholz for the lead on this video featuring a guy named Eric Oddy who has seemingly created a new adventure sport called para-sledding. The concept seems fairly simple. You hook a huge ass parachute to a snowmobile, get up a good head of steam, catch a breeze, and take gentle flight. As you’ll see Oddy gets a few small lift offs going and then he really gets some air at one point climbing to what seems to be 20+ feet up. We wouldn’t get out of the electric chair to try parasledding, but watching videos of it sure is entertaining. We’re sure there’s lots of science involved with the size of the parachute necessary and all but there’s also that pesky physics problem about falling several stories to a painful death of something goes sideways during the aerial portion of the program. No thankee. The guys did a good job balancing out the sled because it “flies” really evenly. It even looks like Oddy takes his hands off the bars at one point in the air as a testament to the stability of the thing.
