Watch the 2013 GT500 Mustang Make Hot Laps of The Nurburgring Ring in Germany

Watch the 2013 GT500 Mustang Make Hot Laps of The Nurburgring Ring in Germany

The hotly awaited 2013 Ford Mustang GT500 has been spotted and captured on video making laps around the famed Nurburgring in Germany. The car sounds 100% bad ass when wailing along, that is for sure. Since the track was wet and it was raining on the day this video was shot, there have been no proclamations on lap times or performance numbers by Ford. You can bet if it ran as good or better than the  ZL1, Ford PR would have been all over telling the world, but the rain, at least on this day prevented that from happening.

Of course the huge buzz around this car centers on the fact that Ford says it will hit the streets with 662hp and 632 lb/ft of torque, numbers that on paper are superior by a bunch to the new ZL1 Camaro. The guys who wear Ford blue footie pajamas and their sworn enemies in the bow tie print boxers have been lobbing poo at one another since the GT500 was announced. At least now there is a physical manifestation of the car to stir up the masses, rather than some numbers on a page.

When both of these things are in the same place at the same time in 2013, it is going to be WAR!

    DADGUM GM cloud-seeding!

Of course the cubical-mope over at Hot Rod.com assures everyone that 2013 GT500s won’t hit the streets in time for 2012 Drag Week*, so this is just an elaborate hoax from the “footie PJ” brigade.

There were parts of the track that were dry as a bone and the sun was out! You can bet that if Ford’s new baby had been faster than the ZL-1 IN THAT PARTICULAR SECTION, Ford would be crowin’ about.

Sector times! No one “crows” about sector times at the ‘Ring. Did GM publish any sector times for the ZL-1? If Government Motors didn’t publish any sector time data, how would Ford “crow” about beating it? How would they even know?

And does the ‘Ring even have any capabilty to record sector times? It’s basically a long toll road with scores of turns. I suppose that sector times could be computed with GPS, but it’s not as if they’re going to hand out a timeslip with sector times on it.

Sorry Backwoods, but your theory wasn’t so brilliant. But it does illustrate the lengths that GM fan boys will sink to in order to defame Ford.

I’ll make this breif, after all, I wouldn’t want to overload that brain CELL you got there, slowy. I think that even ford engineers/promo guys….whatever, know what a stop watch is, and you can bet yer sweet mod-motor that if that ‘stang was faster in ANY sector…….well, EVERYBODY would know!

GT-500 = lighter and more HP.

I’m sure the live axle it hurting it in the turns, but is it really too hard to imagine the GT-500 out performing a car based on those two reasons? These Shelbys have already been making these numbers with minor modifications for a few years now.

I’d love to have both cars, but I don’t seem myself buying a ZL1 when for the same price I could buy a used z06 or supercharge a used Grand Sport. These cars which would destroy the the zl1 and gt500 on a road course. GM fans can still find solace in that, but if a it takes a modded zl1 to keep up with a stock gt500 then they’re going to really hate a modded gt500.
