Wheelstand Video: Ride On The Roof Of Robert Howard’s Olds As He Wins The Bunker Hill Dragstrip Wheelstand Challenge! Badassery!

(Photo from Bunkerhillrace.com) – My pal Brian Olson told me that he was going to be announcing the yearly Bunker Hill Dragstrip Wheelstand Challenge event last weekend and he was giddy about it. After seeing this video, I know why. Robert Howard won the contest on the lap that you’ll see from a roof mounted camera below. This is an impressive wheelie and made even more so by the fact that Howard had a good one going and actually decided to feed it more throttle and go even bigger for the crowd. This is a neat piece of driving here!

Additionally, the clip rules because you see him pull off the track and drive up the return road towards the winner’s circle. The return road is lined with cheering and clapping spectators, fans, kids, and crew people. It rules all and paints a Norman Rockwell-like picture of a local hero getting the glory at a small track on Saturday night. We love stuff like this because it showcases how wide ranging the sport of drag racing is. From the huge NHRA national event scene to killer little events like this at great tracks with soul like Bunker Hill Dragstrip, it is all good.

Bunker Hill is an NHRA sanctioned track in Indiana which has been open since 1956 and is an eighth mile in length (with respect to the racing surface). Olson reported to us that this event is a barn burner every year and one of the best attended shows that the track puts on. With action like you’re about to see, we understand why!

PRESS PLAY BELOW TO SEE ROBERT HOWARD TAKE THE GLORY AND PULL ONE MASSIVE WHEELSTAND AT BUNKER HILL DRAGWAY FROM THE ROOF OF HIS CAR!

When we were editing the videos we shot, we loved the return road footage and felt it needed to be left in because it was so cool!
