Classic YouTube: All You Need For A Ken Block Parody Is A Ford Painted Right!

Make no mistake, Ken Block’s Gymkhana series of videos set a pretty high bar when they first came out. That was back when Block was still beating the living hell out of prepared Subarus and not Rally-spec Fords. Many people remember the airport gymkhana video from 2011, or maybe the footage shot for TopGear where he gave James May a hell ride in 2009. But the first video was shot at the Port of Los Angeles and is the obvious inspiration for what you are about to see below.

The 1985 Ford Fiesta Ghia isn’t a prepared Subaru WRX STI. It’s not even remotely close. In fact, other than the fascination with breaking fluorescent tubes, there really is no comparison, but it’s always fun to watch someone take the seriousness out of Block’s work. And Etienne Guerra’s driving makes the Fiesta look like a rock star, hiking up the rear wheel like any good FWD corner-carver should. Honestly, Block, if you’re reading this: find the Fiesta, and use it for the next Gymkhana. We know you can drive a race machine at full-kill. Now step out of your comfort zone and go beat on a 1980s econobox!
