Cheap Junkyard Fix! Adding An Overflow Bottle To Your Muscle Car Or Truck!

Cheap Junkyard Fix! Adding An Overflow Bottle To Your Muscle Car Or Truck!

Overflow bottles are required to run your car down a dragstrip, on the autocross, or any other motorsports events and are a good idea because they keep things clean if you get your car warm. Plus, the right overflow bottle will not only relieve the cooling system of too much fluid when hot, but also suck that fluid back into the system when they cool down, just like most modern cars. There are lots of options available from aftermarket companies, and I like a lot of them, but some are cheap, some are expensive, and some just look out of place.

In this video, Liggett goes to the wrecking yard and finds an overflow bottle and bracket from a late model vehicle and shows just how nice it looks, fits, and works in his C10 project. This is a cheap solution that looks pretty factory and fits like a champ. I like it.

Check out the video.

Video Description:

We need an overflow bottle for drag racing, and just plain safety. But, we are on a budget here with our Project Hay Hauler, 1967 GMC C15 pickup. Instead of spending big bucks on a fancy billet overflow bottle, we hit the salvage yard to see what we could find. Talk about inexpensive, cheap, and affordable. We found a nice bottle off a Toyota that cost us a whole $5.00! And, it fit perfectly. We show you how to save some money on your project that will up your old muscle car, or muscle truck, safety. Plus, this fix will make your car or truck legal to race in most sanctioning bodies.

My overflow bottle is a hiking water bottle I got from Walmart for a few bucks. Made a cheap mount doing a large hose clamp I had and a small piece of aluminum angle. Drilled a hole in it and ran the overflow hose into it. Easy peasy.
