DOES BIG BLOCK CHEVROLET HEAD FLOW MATTER UNDER BOOST? AFR 315 VS 345-ALL MOTOR 496 & 8-71 BLOWN 496!

DOES BIG BLOCK CHEVROLET HEAD FLOW MATTER UNDER BOOST? AFR 315 VS 345-ALL MOTOR 496 & 8-71 BLOWN 496!

Cylinder heads determine power potential of an engine. The camshaft controls the rpm range and power curve, but the overall power potential has to do with how much air and fuel you can get into the engine and that is the job of the cylinder head. So does a bigger cylinder head always make more power under boost? Or does the boost make up for having a cylinder head that doesn’t flow as well? Watch Richard’s video on the subject and not only get those answers, but also see what mistake Richard made during this test.

Check it out.

Video Description:

MISTAKES WERE MADE! DO I NEED GOOD CYLINDER HEADS WHEN I RUN BOOST? DOES MORE HEAD FLOW EQUAL MORE POWER? WHAT HEADS SHOULD I USE ON MY BLOWN 496? DOES A BOOSTED BBC NEED DIFFERENT HEADS? HOW MUCH POWER CAN I MAKE WITH A WEIAND 8/71 ROOTS BLOWER? DOES NA POWER DETERMINE BOOSTED POWER? CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO WHERE I RAN A BACK TO BACK HEAD TEST ON A MODIFIED 496 BBC. I COMPARED THE AFR 315 HEADS TO THE LARGER 345 HEADS BOTH NATURALLY ASPIRATED AND AFTER INSTALLATION OF A WEIAND 8/71 BLOWER. WHAT HAPPENED, WHY AND THE MISTAKE I MADE ON THE BLOWER MOTOR!
