The Bentley W12 is an awesome engine. 626hp at 6,000 RPM and torque, quite literally to match at 665 lb-ft. This video shows one of these beastly things being assembled and the coolest part is that there is no commentary but rather just the sounds of the guys working, their tools and parts going together. Obviously these are bucks up things and they are assembled by hand with the best hands in the Bentley factory working to screw them together.
Basically a pair of narrow V6 engines joined at the crank, they are smooth and they are capable of sending the big, heavy British luxury barges hurtling to speeds that you’d be shocked to experience. The engine really does match the austere nature of the car. People who can afford these things want no compromises. They want the car to be fast. It is. They want the car to be quiet, it is. They want the car to have something unique that every Joe Schmo on the road does not have an the W12 layout of this thing is that as well.
Listen to the mechanics build this thing with nothing but the industrial sounds of a factory, their snappy and torque tested tools, and the components of the mill happily coming together. Where did this engine land? Who knows, other than in a place we cannot afford.
