How does a car just fall off of the map for decades at a time? How do you just park a car somewhere, forget about it and decide to just move along, especially when said car is one that from the moment it appeared, was a cultural icon? A 1965 Ford Mustang has been and will be a dream car to someone anywhere in the world. It’s the pony car Genesis, the car that launched careers, the car that sent young buyers to Ford in flocks. Everybody, from secretaries and schoolteachers to pro racers, wanted a crack at what was essentially the most successful tarting-up of a platform seen to date. It’s true…park a Falcon next to a Mustang and start looking for the same parts.
This particular car hasn’t seen the road since 1975. Think about that for a minute…Monty Python and the Holy Grail is released. Jimmy Hoffa goes missing. Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” is released. That’s how long it’s been since this Ford has been on the road. Nobody paid it any attention. Nobody bothered to turn a wrench on the car. Everybody passed it up…it was probably too far gone for their tastes, or it wasn’t special enough to bother with. Luckily, this car has fallen into good hands. The intent is to put the car back on the road, naturally, but before that happens there is a lot of work that needs to be done. Check out the progress that was made up until the first fire in the clips below!
