What are cam swaps worth in an LS engine. Do they work in a 4.8, a 5.3 and a 6.0? Or are some engines just not worth doing a cam swap on? And if you do a cam swap, are the no springs required camshafts really worth using? If a camshaft is really small enough not to need upgraded valve springs, lots of folks wonder if they are really worth the time and energy to install them. Because if a small cam is good, then a big cam must be better. Or at least that’s been the thought process for hot rodders and racers for years. But check out the video below and let us know what you think, as a variety of camshafts are testing.
Video Description:
HOW MUCH POWER IS A CAM SWAP WORTH ON A 4.8L, 5.3L OR 6.0L? HOW MUCH POWER IS A CAM SWAP WORTH ON A TURBO 5.3L? CAN I RUN A NO SPRINGS REQUIRED CAM ON MY STOCK TRUCK MOTOR? CAN I REALLY RUN CAM WITHOUT SWAPPING SPRINGS? IS IT POSSIBLE TO ADD 50 HP, 60 HP OR EVEN 70 HP FROM A CAM SWAP? DO YOU GET MORE POWER WHEN SWAPPING A CAM ON A TURBO MOTOR. CHECK OUT THIS VIDEO WHERE I TESTED A BTR TRUCK NORRIS NSR (NO SPRINGS REQUIRED) CAM ON A 4.8L. I ALSO COMPARED MY OWN LOW BUCK TRUCK CAM (ON SALE AT richardholdenerperformance.com) TO THE STOCK LM7 CAM ON AN NA 5.3L AND A TURBO 5.3L? IS IT A TURBO CAM? I ALSO ILLUSTRATED WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU REPLACE THE STOCK LM7 TRUCK CAM WITH A FACTORY LS3 OR LS9 CAM, THEN FINISHED OFF WITH A CAM UPGRADE ON AN LS2 CRATE MOTOR.
