Cleveland Grand Prix to Return for 2010?

The Cleveland Grand Prix, last held in 2007, may be back in Cleveland next year if negotiation between the IRL and city officials are successful. The unique plans for the race call for a weekend featuring two different kinds of competition.

One race would be held on a flat oval with no walls and the second race would be held on surface roads. To say that it would be cool is probably an understatement.

The race had a 25-year history in Cleveland and survived more than one attempt to kill it off by various groups in the city. The benefit for the metro area came in the bonanza of hotel room bookings, and restaurant business driven by the horde of spectators.

If they do it, we will go.
