eBay Find: $50,000 For 40 (Or More) 1960s Chevelles, Trucks, Impalas, and Lots Of Parts….But There’s A Little Catch

eBay Find: $50,000 For 40 (Or More) 1960s Chevelles, Trucks, Impalas, and Lots Of Parts….But There’s A Little Catch

Well this certainly isn’t as cool as the 80-acre junkyard we told you about the other day, but it is certainly an interesting eBay listing that should spur some debate down in the ol’ comments section below. The seller on eBay claims that his listing is for a collection of more than 40 Chevrolet cars and trucks from the 1960s and early 1970s. He lists 1964-66, 1968, 1970-1972 Chevelles, “several” 1967-72 Chevy pickups, and “several” 1963-1966 Impalas. As you’ll see in the photos below the stuff has been living outside in the wilds of Missouri but that being said, there doesn’t seem to be cars that are rotten in half…at least from the top down. Who knows what the frames and floors look like. There’s also a significant number of parts located in what appear to be a couple of old school buses and the seller claims that in total volume there’s about two tractor trailer loads of parts. How did he acquire all this stuff? Apparently in the 1990s he was in the business of buying and selling Chevelles, so these cars were bought and perhaps picked for parts or maybe they came in and he could never find anyone to take them back when he was operating a business called Chevelles Anoymous.

So we’re talking about 40 cars and two trailer loads of parts for $50,000 and we mentioned a catch, so what is it? The catch is as follows from this excerpt from the ad:

NO MATTER WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE IN THE PICTURES OR VIDEOS there will not be ANY BBC engines, Muncie transmissions, 12 bolt rearends, or ANY parts or cars that are 1955-57, 1962, 1967 Chevelle or Impala, or 1969 Chevelle. I am in the process of restoring two 55’s, a 62, five 67 SS396’s and two 69 SS396’s and I am not selling any of those parts or cars until those restorations are finished.

Well that’s kind of deflating, eh? Part of the allure of these big deals we run into on various internet outlets is that there may be some gold hidden in them thar’ hills, if you know what we mean. In this case, it appears that there gold has all been mined and the buyer will be left with a sizable amount of tin. Tin is worth something but it sure isn’t as cool or exciting as gold. Did your opinion of the deal change after you learned that the big blocks, valuable four speeds, 12-bolts, and other stuff is gone? It kind of took the wind out of our sales and made us wonder who was really hunting for a load of cars and trucks that had been largely picked clean of stuff, especially if they are less desirable four doors and other models.

What do you think. 40+ classic American muscle car era machines for $50,000. Could someone buy it and profit without the parts restorers are clamoring for? Is the stuff rotted to pieces from sitting in the dirt for ages? What would the shipping costs be to haul all this stuff out? So many questions…

I can get motors, transmissions and rear ends, tin is harder to come by but not from any place where the humidity tops 40%

  2. Matt Cramer

$1250 per car sounds like an OK price for buying one or two parts cars, but doesn’t seem like such a great price if buying in bulk.

  3. Ross Dotson

With the reproduction parts guys popping out more new parts every day, this collection is worth less with every day that passes. H#$%, it would cost you another 25K just to move the stuff. I think he has been watching too many of those TV auction programs.

Too dip sh*t. Too much to pay.
Like TOO much TO pay for TWO crappy Dodge Darts
      They’re called homophones smarta**
      Don’t fear the dictionary.

      1. just some asshole

Is there a point to you being a fuckhead for no reason, or did momma just not give you enough attention?

He’s just a typical Chevy guy. Doesn’t mind calling all the other cars shitboxes but get all bent out of shape when someone call Chevys the junk they are. I pay idiots like him no mind.

          1. Random internet guy

Just look it this way, what are Chevy making now, and what are dodge making now, I know I’d rather have a ZR1 or a new Camaro than a Challanger

Anyone else feel these huge BONANZA junkyard sales are just publicity stunts with absurd minimums to revive the business??

  5. ANGRYJOE

This guy has all this crap because his prices are way too high, he refuses to part with antyhing and thinks his rust is gold…Thats my theory on these types of collections anyway…he can take a long walk off a short pier.

Im in Missouri, I build and do restorations. There is a lot of good rust free cars and trucks here.
Yes they rust when sitting On the ground and out in the weather. These vehicles havent been stored proper. 1250 per is way to much for incomplete and rotted cars.

    Came through Rolla today .
Will have to ask my buddies over there about this.

Missouri climate can be brutal on cars sitting around…. Plus I wouldn’t
pull these out until a cold winter day.
Do it in the summer at your own peril.

  8. BRAKTRCR

I don’t know guys, you all make valid points, but I just can”t forget the Nebraska auction… there are folks willing to spend big bucks for these cars…but I do like the Idaho Junk Yard better.

If all the Good High Dollar parts are not for sale and everything is picked almost clean. Call the crusher. They were not kept up off the ground and they are heading to China already so I say crush them.

  10. Toolman

Yeah all the high dollar stuff is gone so crush everything else! It’s not like some young kid looking to get into hot rods might be interested in an affordable Impala for a project if it has extra doors! Who in their right mind would ever drive a classic Chevy with four doors and no 396?!?!?

I’d still rather have all those Chevies than one overrated mopar for the same money; ala 440-6pk
