Hey, since we were loving all over a 1935 Chevy, why can’t we continue the fun with a 1928 two door sedan now? This car caught our eye on ebay because of its low slung look and also because it is running an engine package that we’ve never seen in a hot rod before, a little supercharged four cylinder Mercedes engine that would normally be found in a 230 SLK. That engine makes about 200hp and was good enough to shove a significantly heavier car down the quarter mile in the mid-15 second zone so in something like this sedan that is a total flyweight in comparison, it should get down the road really well. The seller reports 30mpg out of the combo over the course of 3,000 miles, so that’s another neat little check mark in its favor. Plus, there is the show trump card where no one will be able to figure out what it sounds like and then when you open the hood, the quizzical looks will really pour in.
The car sits on a custom built chassis and despite its rather scruffy exterior appearance has all the comforts of Mercedes home inside with the really nice seats and the whole HVAC system, so heat and air conditioning are part of the cruising program. When you see the photos of all that stuff hidden down behind the seats, it is something appreciate. Some time when into planning that install and location. Overall, this looks like a cool car that was built right and would be hella fun to drive down the road. Yeah, the suspension isn’t going to be the most plush and supple thing ever, but the nice seats and creature comforts set this rod aside from lots of others.
We’d rock it…would you?

I love it more because it has a hood!
Same here, never cared a lot for the no-hood look.
not a fan of mercedes power plants but this is pretty cool!!
how about the ones Penske used at Indy & those in F1
I want it to tow my 2.0L turbo ECOTEC FED to the racetrack.
I would love to build a track roadster with a ecotec
no shit sherlock
Thank goodness it has a hood. Not that it would matter if it were a traditional build, but when it looks sorta traditional the new engine and no hood always always kills it for me. I don’t hate it and wouldn’t give a crap as long as the hood is on it. Still I bet it is fun.
Thanks for the appreciation of the car I built. It is a fun car to drive.
Its a great car that is very well built . My girl friend i bought the car & drove it home 450 miles it never missed beat & we had a blast!
