This vintage stock car stuff seems to be really catching on! Yesterday we ran an ad for a killer 1957 Plymouth and today, thanks to a tipster, we’re hitting you in the noggin with an uber-bitchin’ 1958 Edsel stock car. This one actually still sports the stock Edsel frame, the original nine-inch rear end. four wheel manual drums, and original suspension. It does have a roll cage in it, but this tank is the real deal!
The driver has run it on asphalt ovals of varying lengths, dirt ovals, and it has even done time at Road America! The seller admits that the car is not exactly the most competitive. Why? Well, we can imagine lots of cars are like the Plymouth from yesterday which rode on a Chevelle chassis. This car being on the original frame and suspension is no match for that. With that being said, this car would offer an incredibly driving experience to the legit stock cars of 50 years ago. We’d sell a family member for this car, although it would only require a limb for the asking price of $2,500 bucks, sans engine.
What would we put in it? An MEL engine, of course! One of those 400hp factory jobbers would be just fine and dandy.
Thanks for the tip Greg Rourke!
Someone’s gotta buy it!
