(Words and photos by Tommy Lee Byrd) – Last weekend, Tommy Lee Byrd made his annual trip (a whole 4 miles) to the Strawberry Festival Cruise In, held in his hometown of Dayton, Tennessee. It’s a typical small town festival that features a block party on Friday night, and a big parade on Saturday afternoon. The block party features a cruise in, which is always packed with people making their way up and down the main drag through down.
Since this is a hometown event for TLB, he strapped his 10-week-old daughter, Carlee in the passenger seat of his ’64 Corvette for her first ride in a hot rod. She seemed to like the noise and vibration, so she may end up being his new traveling partner pretty soon. Be sure to check out the GoPro video of her first ride!
As for the Strawberry Festival cruise in, a big chance of rain hindered the turnout, but the weather cooperated, surprisingly. Despite the weak turnout compared to most years, we spotted a bunch of cool stuff, including a Cummins-swapped Chevy C-10 pickup, a lineup of really cool vintage tractors and a super solid ’65 Chevelle 300 Deluxe survivor.
