(Photos by Joe Grippo) – The NHRA recently held a Division 1 points race at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pennsylvania. BangShift’s Joe Grippo was on the scene and kept a keen eye on the stock and super stock ranks along with the rest of the great sportsman classes contested at the event. The sportsman scene here in the northeastern quadrant of the country promises to get even busier with the addition of the Epping NHRA National event in 2013. More racers from the New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont area will be chasing NHRA grade points in order to qualify for access to the new race. The people competing at “the Grove” already have a leg up on those that are going to try and collect their points through the end of 2012 and into 2013.

Consider this gallery as a highlight reel of Joe’s great photos from the race. We concentrated on wheelstands, burnouts, and interesting cars like the ones below that had us drooling on the keyboard. Stockers and super stockers really are the stuff. We admire their owners dedication to improving their combos and the history that many of these cars have. We’re guessing that more than a few of the cars in this gallery have been drag strip warriors since they were brand new! From Cobra Jets to wheelstanding Chevelle wagons, this gallery has it all!
