RacingJunk Find: This 1948 Willys Pro Street CJ2A Jeep Comes With A Twist…Literally

RacingJunk Find: This 1948 Willys Pro Street CJ2A Jeep Comes With A Twist…Literally

This 1948 Willys CJ2A Jeep done in the pro street style looks like a life sized version of a muscled up die-cast car. The complete lack of a wheelbase, the huge meats crammed together under the back of the little truck, the supercharged small block Chevy with what looks to be a pair of Predator carbs on top punch all the right buttons in the crazy dept. The cool thing is that there is a literal twist with this Jeep and that is the fact that it is operated with hand controls because the owner/builder is handicapped. Talk about determination and drive! Lots of us able bodied guys could certainly learn something from a dude who built his own over-the-top pro street machine without being hampered with a physical disability. We love it.

The engine is a GM ZZ4 350 crate motor that has been huffed with a B&M supercharger. There’s no word of what it makes for power so let’s assume that we’re talking 400-500 with the addition of the blower. That would be more than enough to have some big time fun with in the Jeep because it weighs nothing in comparison to a Camaro, Mustang, etc. The front end has rack and pinion steering, the rear uses a very narrow Ford 9″ and there are disc brakes all around. We dig the crazy rake that the Jeep has because it adds to the wackiness of the whole package.

The Jeep uses a Turbo 400 transmission and with those massive Mickey Thompson tires on the back, we bet it can actually navigate down the highway at a decent clip. We’re not sure we’d want to make a cross-country trip in the Jeep but it would certainly be fun to cruise to shows and events. People must go nutso over seeing it because as we mentioned above, visually it looks to be a Hot Wheels car come to life and breathing through those headers and big diameter side pipes it has to sound like really serious business.

There’s certainly some money tied up into the Jeep with the Art Morrison custom chassis and all of the zillion hours it must have taken to do the body and complete all the custom work necessary to actually get the ’48 running and driving. The seller is looking for $50,000. We’ve got some photos below and then a link to the full RacingJunk ad below the photos!
