I remember when a 5.0 Fox Body was a fast car. Back when nothing made horsepower from the factory and the LX 5.0 was the lightest most powerful combo you could get. I hated them, even though I respected them, because I’m a Chevrolet guy to the core. Remember, this was before a Fox Body became a universal car that is loved by everyone. It’s no longer a Ford to me, it is its own thing. But that’s another editorial. The engine combos available back then, including the previously mentioned 5.0 Ford, and 5.0 TPI small block Chevy were what was available. Chevrolet would bring out the 5.7 TPI engine in the IROC later, but the battle of 5.0’s was real. Sad, but real. LOL

But what could really be done to these engines? We all know superchargers, turbos, nitrous, cams, heads, etc. But these little bore engines had some challenges. Thankfully Richard Holdener has tested the hell out of both of them, which is how we’ve put together this two video set that shows what both are capable of. Will the Ford break in half? Will the Chevrolet make no power above 5,500 rpm? The stereotypes are plentiful for these two, but we want to see what they really do, on the dyno, with the right parts. Don’t you?
