Carb Tech: Here Are The Top 5 Reasons Your Stromberg Carburetor Leaks Or Doesn’t Work Right.

The Stromberg 97 is arguably the most iconic carburetor that doesn’t say Holley on it, but they are old and that means it is unlikely that your old Stromberg is going to be in mint condition anymore. They were original equipment on mid to late 1930’s flathead V8 engines and were a common hop-up part for the lower performance flatheads when they got hot-rodded. They are as iconic as they come and can be a nice reliable carburetor if you know how to clean, repair, adjust, and tune on properly.

In this video from Matt at Iron Trap Garage he goes over the top 5 reasons that your Stromberg will not work properly, along with how to fix those things. The common problems are not going to be something foreign to anyone who has ever rebuilt any kind of carburetor, but they do have some quirks that are unique to them as well.

Video Description:

Recently we have spent a lot of time rebuilding Stromberg carburetors for a few of the projects currently in the shop. While rebuilding them Steve and Matt found a few common issues that were found in the majority of the carbs. Matt decided to put together a video covering the common issues we found as a part of our hot rodding 101 series. Be sure to comment below if you have any other issues you seem to find with every Stromberg!!
