Chevrolet wasn’t the only one who threw BangShift an invite last night. Our pals at MSD dropped us a line and told us to show up for the unveiling of their new Atomic LS EFI as well as the dual quad traditional Atomic EFI. The Atomic LS is a game changer in the world of LS swaps which seem to be getting more popular by the day.

What MSD has done in this application is to create a complete EFI solution that requires nothing more than the buyer to plug in the integrated fuel rails and ECU onto the selected LS engine and fire the car up. It is so easy we’re scheming up story ideas to test it out. We think that it would be possible to yank a junkyard LS engine in the morning and have it installed and running into a classic car by the end of the same night. The pieces work with mechanical or electronic throttle setups, it will support up to 1,000hp (boost and nitrous are not a problem), it will recognize both 24 and 58 tooth crank trigger wheels automatically, and it is a self learning system, so no lap top is required. We’ll have more details as the week rolls on, but this seems like a pretty revolutionary product with respect to the LS swap market into older cars. Without having to sort out a big factory harness and all, it takes much of the guesswork out of the equation for guys that want LS engines in their cars and are creeped out by the electronic end. MSD says that these babies will ship in January of 2013

Also, MSD announced and showed a truly killer looking dual quad traditional Atomic setup that will be available for sale in the Spring of 2013. Seeing two of those cool looking throttle bodies on top of a manifold is pretty neat and MSD says that this product is being designed because of customer demand. They got so many calls from customers wanting to do this on their own that they decided to come up with a good solution.
