If you followed NASCAR at all this year then you know that Martin Truex, Jr. had “his year” this year. The dude had a monumental season and clenched the championship this year. But the season is over and it’s time to make the sponsors happy, so he’s been out doing PR appearances, signing autographs and drumming up support, while allowing fans to get a closer look at him and the #78 Toyota Camry that he drives. Normally, the car is parked, the driver is at the table after saying a few words, and it’s a very cordial affair.
Not this time. At his stop at the Springfield, Missouri Bass Pro Shops store, Johnny Morris, the owner of Bass Pro Shops himself, seemed to want Truex to sign something other than an 8×10 glossy portrait. It doesn’t take long for one simple suggestion to turn into fans chanting for the same thing: DO A BURNOUT. Immature? Eh, not in this case. Remember, Bass Pro Shops is the big sticker on the hood of that car…you gotta do what you gotta do to make the guy spending money on you happy, right?
Should be mandatory at all press signings when car and driver are present !!
morning moderator, how ya’ll doin’
