Continuing our daily dyno video display this week, here’s one that deserves every inch of volume you can muster. While we wouldn’t call ourselves Italian super car fans here at BangShift, we are into cars of all shapes and sizes and stuff that makes the kind of noise that this 12-cylinder Ferrari mill does is cool in our book!
This engine was never turbocharged in the Testarossa, so someone is hot rodding one which is neat. The 12-cylinder engine in stock form comes in at around 300ci and made 428hp at 6750 RPM. With four valves per cylinder, the thing has an astonishing 48 valves working away. Those valves are of course tiny as the bores on this engine have to be small. After all, it is 12 cylinders and it displaces 300ci! We do not know what the engine made with the twin turbos bolted to it, but if it is anything like other engines that have gotten this treatment, the HP growth is probably substantial.
Like a big block with open headers at full song, there’s nothing quite like the symphonic sounds of a 12-cylinder Ferrari engine crying out in a full fury. Usually the only time to hear it is at the race track but this is a rare opportunity to hear it strapped to a dyno in a little room. A rare pleasure, indeed!

This engine came out of the Koenig Testarossa which was as far removed from the stock Ferrari with custom panels and tuned brakes and suspension to handle all that power.
