Miniature engines are always a trip to see and hear run. We’ve shown you lots of video of tiny V8s making cool noise, but how about a wee, little V4? This is a first for us and we dig the angry sounding little mill. What’s neat about this video is that the guy who constructed the engine gives a little narration about the engine. When you start thinking about what goes into making one of these engines, your brain may leak out of your ear. Consider the part where the dude talks about making the piston rings. We have strands of hair that fall out of various areas of our bodies that may be larger than those piston rings. Not surprisingly, many of the miniature engine enthusiasts are dudes with backgrounds in machine work and other precision industries. This is what they do to relax. Meanwhile we can’t remember where we parked a car and these guys are handling parts that an errant incident of their pet breaking wind would blow clear across the room.
As you would expect, this V4 doesn’t have the same note as a miniature V8. The pitch is a little higher and the roar a little less basso, but it still makes great noise and would be awesome to fire and use to ward off annoying telemarketing calls. Tiny engines rule, no matter the number of cylinders. BangShift approved craftsmanship right here on display! Press play below to check it out –
